just a curious question.. do our notebook motherboards have brands?
in all of the laptop buying guide that i read, i nver saw a consideration in choosing the right motherboard inside notebook? but in desktops this is one of the most significant things you need to look at!

Well, most do not consider it because most laptops do not have standerdised motherboards. They are not upgradable or interchangable. So what you get with a laptop is what you have to work with.
Also most laptops are manufactured by OEM's some of them do make motherboard as well. Asus and MSI are the major examples. There are others like Compal and Quanta who specialize in only building laptop and use their own MB. -
is barebook the same with motherboard? i heard that you can actually assemble your own laptop using this.

Most barebones come with a lot of things built-in. The motherboard, graphics card, screen, keyboard, battery and the rest of the chassis is included and already assembled. Most also have a DVD drive built-in as well. The only things you need to add are the Processor(heatpipe and fans are included with the barebone), Wireless NIC, Hard drive, Memory, the OS and the DVDD/CD drive(if it is not included).
