Are you asking if you can use PC2100 in a system using PC2700 ram? If so, the answer is yes, but it will slow your ram down to PC2100 speeds (266Mhz). If you're system already has a PC2700 (333Mhz) module installed and you add a PC2100 module into the system up get more ram, the PC2700 module will drop its speed to 2100 to be compatible with the slower module.
It's the same if you add a faster module to your system (PC3200=400Mhz), the new module will slow itself down to the speed of your existing ram. But, if you replace all the ram with PC2100 or PC3200, the ram will operate at whatever speed the ram is.

Can you use a SODIMM PC 2700 333Mhz in place of a SODIMM PC2100, 266Mhz for a HP notebook (DV1000)???
