can anyone help me in upgrading my notebook.. i have centrino processor.. i check my the memory preinstalled in my notebook and the brand is samsung 256 pc 2700.. i want to buy 1 gig.. can i mix it with different brand but with the same configurations? will it work?
one more question.. when i checked newegg i saw a lot of so-dimms but it seems that gold pins have different looks.. i mean some 200 pins sodimms has a curve at the center while others are on the left side... does this matter when installing it in the notebook?
newegg also gave me different selections for sodimms... yeah i know what they mean by type, capacity, and speed.. but i do not know what they mean by cas latency, ecc, unbuffered! do these things really matters in choosing notebook ram (i.e., cas latency, ecc, unbuffered)
hope someone will answer me ASAP!![]()

Yeah you can use memory from any manufacturer. It does not have to be from the same brand.
There are DDR and DDR2 memory and they have different pin configurations. There are also variations on the number of pins present. The most common ones are 200 pin DDR memory. The rest are used in ultraportables and such smaller laptops.
Many memory manufacturers have memory configurators where they list compatible memory for the laptop. They should let you know what type of memory works for your system.
Crucial
Kingston
You can find out compatible memory and buy them fm Newegg.
