I just ordered (but have not received in the mail yet) an HP Dm3t laptop. Instead of the standard "Intel(R) Celeron(R) Processor SU2300 (1.20GHz, 1M Cache) w/Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD"......i forked over an extra $125 to get the "Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor SU7300 (1.3GHz, 3M Cache) with 512MB NVIDIA GeForce G 105M".......

DO you all think that the upgrade I bought was worth it ? The next step up was an additional $ 225 (from the base processor, $125 if calculated from the upgrade i bought) for the same processor but with 2.26 Ghz and 6M cache.

I am a college student, I will be doing fairly heavy multitasking (itunes+several internet windows+excel/word) and I did not want a celeron processor because I wanted something that could handle my demands. I will probably also be watching HD videos, and perhaps light gaming.

I have an imac that i use for games, so i didnt need my laptop to do that, which is why I did not spring for the top level processor.

Anyway, do you all think I made a good choice ?

******Basically, will I be satisfied with the difference between the base-level processor and the one I upgraded to for the extra $ 125 ?

    Thanks.

$125 just for the processor wouldn't have been worth it, but with the G105m graphics it was. G105m is much better than x4500. But don't be fooled, the SU2300 is a VERY good processor.

The SU2300 I saw played Blu-ray rips just fine. The SU7300 will get better battery life, but the dedicated card may offset that some. Given the usage I doubt the Core i5/i7 makes much of a difference. Memory is usually more important for multitaking. If you want speed, get a good SSD.
