    While rooting through the nVidia advanced display settings on my laptop, I noticed that the display hertz was set to 59. Why? I thought LCD's used 60hz minimum? Does this setting yield some advantage of some kind?

    not exactly, It might wear out everso slightly slower but other than that, I can't think of anything benificiary about it.
