there's one movie disc that when i load it into the drive causes vibration from the drive....i have to hold the door panel firmly to keep the noise down.
afraid it may damage the drive. it's a movie disc store bought, the disc balances well when i hold it along the length of my finger.
not sure if this is an early warning the drive may be bad ?

Take a look at this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=131170
Basically, it's not your drive, rather the media (CD, DVD) that is uneven that is contributing to the loudness. Uneven disc = Vibrations = Loud at high speeds. -
Tray drive? I think bad disc would consider not using to prevent drive from going bad. Do you have other drives you could try disc in? Make a copy and stop using that disc.

thats what i figured....i set the speed of the drive in anydvd to slow & quiet....no more vibration
