My wife's Acer Aspire 3000 (Celeron M) has developed a bad power jack. Where's a good place to take it? It's long since out of warranty. I did a little googling, but am not sure how to evaluate the quality/honesty of said repair shops, so figured I'd see what you all think.
Thanks!

I would go with a local repair shop. Be ready for a possibly high price tag to get it fixed, though.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
If you can identify the particular part that's broken you can also try to find a replacement part online... and replace it yourself. I've done some self-repairs for a screen and some hinges without a problem...

Most of the time, a bad power jack means that the mobo will have to be replaced. If that's the case, you're better off buying a new computer.

It should be easy to fix most of the time. Is it just a loose connector? I got a lot of those in PC repair class many years ago. Easy to fix with a normal soldering iron.

Yeah, I believe it is just a something a little loose, because it works sporadically. But the slightest bump, and it goes back out.
And no, I'm not comfortable soldering things.
out of warranty repairs, where to send?
