hey. i have a toshiba satellite a210 with an amd turion 64 dual core 1.8ghz processor and i was wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be safe enough to overclock to possibilly a 2.0ghz with out like you know melting my laptop or cuasing any harm to it.

if more info is needed ill find it out.
    thanks in advance

OK, Make sure you have the latest BIOS, then you can overclock without worrying about heat as much.
I highly doubt that your Turion is unlocked, so you might want to check that, if it is you can not overclock with nay program.

Use CPU-Z to identify you chipset, that can help determine which app to use. If NVidia I think NTune, I use ClockGen (ATI chipset). 2.0 Ghz should not be a problem I get a 1.6Mhz up 1.9Mhz. I use Notebook Hardware Control to monitor temps. Undervolting can be used to control Temps. RightMark CPU clock utility can be used for this. Once you have your OC set you want to test for stability I use Pime95. Good luck. Try a search as many threads on this with some how to advice.

Edit: and I assmed this was a software/FSB OC.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS, it should help with temps for that AMD CPU. ;)

nevermind had a strange copy of clockgen. got a tut and and tried 2.0ghz which was fine with prime95 no errors. temp in rightmark was at 60 celcius. so im trying 2.1ghz now
dont think i'll go any hgher than that

    what you guys think?

Post your temps if you don't mind(at 2.1 GHz).
& make sure clock gen isn't set to start with windows while your testing.

When you run Prime 95 for final stability tests you run it for hours, some people run for days. SiSoft Sandra has some fun benchmarks two CPU and one Memory bandwidth and like all the others we have talked about free versions. Those aren't bad for a quick stability test and fun to see the improvement.

Also, do you mind posting before & after benchmarks in Super Pi/WPrime?
