am using an amilo sa 3650 with the XGP, and when I connect it to my external 32" monitor via HDMI, the margins of the screen appears black and I can't use them at all, but when using a DVI-VGA adapter and connect to the screen using VGA, the whole screen is used, anyone can suggest something to help ?

Hmm, sounds like pillars--the vertical expression of letterboxing? In that case, monitors typically have a switch for that.

I had that problem and the problem of the edges of the desktop cut off on my external display. After ten minutes fiddling with settings in the display's menu I figured it out, and you should too.

For some reason my TV was confused about what resolution I was feeding it from my computer. The setting in question was "image size." It was set to 16x9, which would sound like the logical choice. For some reason it just didn't display it properly. I had to change it to "just scan" so that each pixel given to it would match a pixel on the display. It would suck if your 32" doesn't have that option, but the samsung tv I'm using does have gazillions of options and connections on it. If you are just using a 'cheap' 32" LCD you might be out of luck. :(

I don't think anyone who would bother with this would but such an ignoramus...

It could be the overscan setting in ATI's Catalyst Control Center.
    Try this.

    Why would I be insulted?

And that isn't a software problem either....
