Anyone know any cheap place to get some 1gig pc2700 ram? The HP "certified" ones cost $900All the places I checked only comes in 512MB.
I have a compaq R4000 (zv6000 hp) does anyone know would pc3200 work? Those are more available but my laptop specified pc2700. I live in BC canada if it matters.

I recommend going to www.Newegg.com and buying it there. $900 from HP? You have to be joking....a 1GB stick of PC2700 is about $120. I recommend Corsair or Kingston. Crucial also makes quality memory.
Yes, PC3200 will work fine. However, it will downclock to PC2700 speeds. -
So ddr2 wont work for athlon system i guess

Yes - DDR2 is not supported by AMD chips. That is for the Intel Centrino and later Pentium 4-based systems...

Can you guys, give me some ideas when or what generation (after Turion or dugin TURION line) will AMD use DDR2....?
I've paid enough attention. I want 2GB and hit the maxy RAM of lappy. But DDR1 is 20% more expensive than the faster DDR2
sigh!..........

Probably in Fall/Winter of '06/'07. No one really knows yet, I'm just saying when to expect it.
It's going to be at least six months.
