Anyone know the highest cpu supported by the pcg-grz660? I currently have a 2.4 ghz northwood core I would like to go with a p4 w/HT 2.6

Well they made Northwood cores up to like 3.4GHz and with HT, so I don't see why you should not be able to pop one of those in.
-
cool I will try and find something to work!
-
I only see them going up to 3.33Ghz. All socket 478. What is your FSB? If 400Mhz vs 533Mhz could make it harder. But yes the same socket a good start. Have you priced? Sometimes older stuff is much more expensive ( I guess less supply)
-
Yeah The cpu is a 2.4 northwood cpu running 400 fsb I cannot find any supporting info as to a upper limit of cpu support. I don't know if it can go to 533 fsb or not. It has the I845d chipset if that helps anyone give the right answer.

You could probably dump a prescott in that too.

Did you ever figure out if any other CPUs are supported by this laptop. Mine is overheating and I want to swap the CPU for something which runs a little better. Any specs you have on the CPU you picked would be great. Thanks.
Also, do you know what the dip switches do on the left hand side of the cover below the memory stick slot? Thanks. -
Is your is a p4m processor. The fastest 400Mhz FSB p4m processor is 2.6Ghz.
the p4m's were based on the northwood core, so you will have to let us know if it is a desktop cpu or a mobile one.
gamerayers, you may want to send a PM to the original poster, so that he can answer your comment, he hasnt been online in 4 months.
You may want to clean your fans and apply arctic silver thermal paste to your cpu in order to keep the temperatures down. You can alternatively downgrade to a lower clocked cpu for cooler running temps.
