Hi. I am interested in getting a tv tuner for my laptop. I want to catch a few basic channels at 1080i. The two cards I am deciding between are:

Hauppauge hvr1500 and the Avermedia nanoexpress

I am trying to get reviews and stuff but both seem pretty mediocre. Any suggestions? I am running vista if that matters. Thanks.

These cards are express cards, not pcmcia. I've used a couple Hauppauge TV tuners and they have the worst software (very buggy). As for Avermedia, I haven't used the nanoexpress, but have used older TV tuners from them (non-HD) which worked ok.
I would however, suggest going with a USB route instead of an express card. The tuner will get extremely hot and I somehow feel better when something that hot isn't inside my notebook. I'm currently using this USB TV tuner and it is by far the best. The antenna is slightly better than the Hauppauge and the software is a dozen times superior IMO.
    Just my 2 cents :)
