i want to build meself a decent system, and my budget is 800 USD. im not going to play super demanding games like Crysis, since my taste is not FPS type. i just want to know what kind of processor my budget would allow, and im not going for Core i7 EE.

budget: 800 usd, but i need to get the CPU, mainboard, casing and PSU only.
RAM, GPU, HDD, mouse, keyboard, speakers and monitor i already have.

btw, my fav games are older, so they aren't optimized for multicore. they prefer clock speed. i thought of the P4 EE 'cause it has high clock speeds.

so should i get P4 EE, C2D or Core i7? and please list from medium onwards (im tired of budget stuff)

    thanks

as already stated C2D based Celeron will beat the P4 EE. I look for the E8400+ which is a 3.0Ghz+ It can also be overclocked like crazy. any they are cheap compaired to the quads.

the AMD Athlno X2 720? @ 3.0Ghz is faster but no much.

I also swear by the E8400. Best C2D ever made.

Another vote for the E8400 here. Well within your budget, great CPU.
The P4 EE is so out of date, it's not even worth considering.
