It's an older model. Newegg has the current one. It'll work. Swapping optical drives is very easy, just remember to remove the battery before making any such hardware changes. Get the HP service guide for your notebook for precise details.

I have a V3000. From the looks of it, it will probably not line up correctly since the bezel on my V3000 is angled. I am guessing the others are similar. If you can get it in there, it will probably work. My V3000 uses a DVR-K16.

You may have an issue with the fitting. I've installed them in all of my companies current models and they line up pretty well and we paint them to match the systems.

Yea I have the side part bezeled down as well. I would like to purchase this but Its not worth the money and risk of it not fitting. I have always said that other companys need to start doing slot loading drives like apple. Its about time.

although... slot drives aren't perfect. I'd rather have a tray that comes out than a drive that has even a possibility of eating my cd...

i have a pioneer slot loading for my desktop... ...wouldn't buy one again. It catches sometimes or decides not to eject the disc very far. It was great brand new but a pain in the ass now.

did anyone ever try this on the DV2000? I don't want to pay the 400+ for one through HP, but would like a cheaper solution. If installed, how does it work and how does it look? Pics?
