I have an HP 850 elitebook with a glossy touch screen which is one of the worst panels I have ever experienced, especially at this price point. The panel is AU Optronics [ AUO23ED], any other info that can be useful please just ask.

Particularly with light colors I can see distinctively the edges of the pixels. This picture exaggerates the effect because it's a close up but you get the idea. In all other monitors I have I don't see this effect. Is this a poor quality panel or a defective one? I have tried different graphic drivers but with no effect and since I don't see this problem when connected to an external monitor it must be the laptop monitor. I am just afraid that if I RMA the laptop, HP will just replace it with one just as bad and I will have lost 10 days without my computer and I don't have a replacement.

I dont really see a Problem?
Maybe you are used to matte Displays with a slight blurring effect on the Pixels and so the clear view on the Pixel is disturbing for you?
For me, 100% sharp and clear Pixel edges is actually a good Thing. this is why i hate matte Panels, because this slight blur gives me headaches, my eyes/brain Always Things it is out of Focus.

Not really because I am coming from an LG laptop with a glossy display. In any case neither my glossy display in my laptop nor my 3 monitors with matte make the pixel edges visible.

Which EliteBook 850 is it, G1? G2? Etc. When I reviewed the original back in 2014, I mentioned its poor quality display. It could just be the general low image quality that makes something like the pixel edges stand out to you. Maybe if you could take a picture of a display you consider good quality, we could have a point of reference.

This is the latest generation the G5 but I can't seem to find anybody on a forum who has a G5 which could help make a comparison. I can take another picture of a different monitor.
