Any Socket P Celeron or Pentium Dual-Core is basically guaranteed to work, but there is a good chance that any 533MHz to 800MHz FSB Socket P processors will work, right up through the T9500. It's a very good idea to update the BIOS.

The general gist of GL960 is that it only officially supports Celerons and Pentium Dual-Cores, but most people have done Merom and Penryn C2D upgrades without any problems. Because of the lack of official support, GL960 upgrades to Meron and Penryn C2D is still a little bit of a crapshot, but it's truly rare that a GL960 won't take 667MHz or 800MHz FSB processors no matter what you do.

A T5750 has a very, very good chance of working, but it just isn't guaranteed. You probably want to apply some thermal paste on the new processor, but the T5750 isn't really a powerhouse and you should be okay without it. Acer should provide a utility with which you can update the BIOS, you will have to look around their site for such a thing.

do you know of a better cpu that has a 90% chance of working.

like what is a good cpu as far as speed and multitasking? is the T5750 a good one?

It does have more than a 90% chance of working. I've never actually heard of one not working. I'm just saying that there's still a chance of it not working, no matter how small that may be.

There's nothing wrong with a T5750, it's just not a top-of-the-line processor. What you actually need really depends on what you want to do with your computer. If you're just doing day to day tasks like word processing and web browsing, there's no need to upgrade. If you're looking to game, you should probably sell your current machine and get something with a real GPU.

Considering there's still nothing out on the external GPU front, I wouldn't hold my breath.
