    Hello.

i am looking to upgrade my ram. i currently have a "Single" 1 gig ram in my monstruo s400. i am thinking of adding a extra 2 gigs to boost performace, as vista seems to be eating up my ram, (50%)

    - The ram i currently have is 1GB Kingston Single Channel DDR2 at 667MHz - 1 x 1GB,
    - the motherboard is, Intel 945PM PCI-Express Chipset
    - and graphics card is the 7950GTX..

I have never bought ram and am worried about compatability etc. (the guy at xvxonline said install is easy as it just clips in.

Please be specific about which ones to buy and look for, as i am a NOOOB,, lol.
    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Thanks

You need DDR2 PC5300/5400 SODIMM RAM, use a utilities like CPU-Z to check the cas-latency of your current stick 5 maybe 4 there is no need to pay extra for lower than what you have right now because it always defaults to the slowest.

More RAM will help performance but Vista by design uses about 50% of your RAM so do not be surprised when that does not change, it will be faster.

Crucial.com can scan your current setup and advise compatible RAM any brand should do but buy from a reputable company with a good return policy in case of problems and lifetime guarantee are pretty common so you might want make sure you get that in case of problem.
