    hi everyone,
I need some help on my portable HDD. I bought a 3.5 Portable HDD recently. When I was formating the HDD, the computer hang, so I had to restart the PC. After that, whenever I connect my HDD into the USB, my com will just be super slow. Vista can see a HDD plugged in but cannot read it. I tried putting the HDD into my desktop and formatting it with Win XP installation setup, the HDD was recgonised, but the formatting process stopped at 0 percent forever....
Is my HDD dead??? help pls
    Thanks :)

I'm afraid it almost certainly is dead - to all intents and purposes :(

You'll have lost anything important which was on it, unfortunately... but you can at least request a RMA from whoever you bought it from, and get the replaced with the same model.

But that's about it I'm afraid.
If there was anything on the drive which you absolutely must get off it... you're going to have to fork out a small fortune (£100/US$200 +) to data recovery specialists, to retrieve it for you
