Hi, my laptop (model XPS M1210) no longer recognizes the Dell adapter I am using, and the battery does not charge as a consequence. Any suggestions, please?!!!

Maybe the adaptor is no longer giving any power.

Do you have access to a multimeter in order to whether there is any voltage on the terminals?

How old is the adaptor and do you regularly wind the wire around the brick?

sometimes this happens completely randomly. It has happened to me on my dell e1505 about 4 times in the last year.
unplug the power and boot from battery, than plug the ac power cable in and it should work. It does for me, so hopefully its the same for you.

If you kinked the cable in any way, you may have cut a wire inside the ac power cable causing the system not to get the power it needs.
If unplugging and replugging the ac power adaptor doesn't work, and no voltage can be measured out of it, than I suggest getting a replacement one through Dell.
