Hi all
I have Dell inspiration N5030. Few keys were not working so I have take out the keyboard and cleaned it and trying to reassemble. but in the mean time the flexi cable which connect to the power switch board has came out. It has been sticky with some glue but I am unable to attach again.
Is anybody has idea that how can I attach the cable pin to the power board ? It was attached with some like glue but I dont have idea about that sticky?
any help would be greate.
Thank you

a picture might help. should be a connector or something you flip close after you insert the cable in and it keeps it in place

Cables shouldn't be connected with glue, they typically use a small plastic clip mechanism. Any glue/tape is used to route wires, typically. Still, a picture would be most useful.

Are you talking about the ZIF connector for the keyboard on the motherboard?
There should not be glue for ZIF connectors/ribbon cables.. -

Okay you have ripped off the ZIF connector for the power button connector, so you will need to buy a new one off like Ebay or something.

Hi
Thank you for your kind information.
Can somebody have the idea about conductive wire glue ? Is it useful to skick it ? I have seen on site, Electrically Conductive Silver Paint : Conductive Paint : Maplin
Thank you. -

Uhh..no I don't know about that material, but that will not help. The ZIF connector has been mangled to the point where it won't even stay in. You'd be better off buying a new power button.

If you're good enough at improvising, you could try sanding down the metal edges of the connector that are still covered with plastic and try reusing the cable before buying another one. I somehow ended up ripping something that that and I had to cut off the piece that ripped and had to basically remake the edge of it..
If you're having issues with it staying in, you could try electrical tape on the opposite side of the metal, might give enough grip to stay in too. -
That link is to a conductive paint, not glue. It's used to create a short over a non-conductive gap. Best case, you will paint those connections and give them a very shiny finish. Worst case, you will short them out and cause further damage to parts that are currently working properly. I wouldn't use tape to repair that, since tape only holds things so well for so long before things shift, especially in a hot laptop. Assuming you're willing to try it, you might use a thick epoxy that will not wick its way into the gap between the connector and the pads. Even then, there's no guarantee you didn't cause damage to the silicon and any traces running through it when you pulled the wire off.
TL;DR: Paint is paint, not glue. Buy a new board and cable. -
hi there
Thank you all for your kind information. I have tried to buy the new power button of the model dell inspirion N5030. I coulnt found in the internet. I have called so many dell spares parts shops in the UK but they dont have as well. finally I have tried to dell support. they are run out with this.
Is anybody have idea, where can I buy dell inspiron N5030 power button board in the UK ?
Thank you. -

You will need to find the Dell Part Number. It should be on the power button. It should have a DP/N 0xxxxx. You need the xxxxx without the 0. That is the Dell P/N.
