Hello, I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place, but here goes.

I bought a new monitor for an Asus F5M notebook, hooked it up (VGA connector), went to nvidia control panel and activated both displays.

It worked fine for about a few minutes and then the external monitor went blank (stanby mode). Since then I simply can not make it work again, tried several monitors, updated drivers, reinstalled driver, even reinstalled my OS.

On my other notebook it's working without a problem (HP), I tried several setting in nvidia control panel, fn F8.. none of them work.

    Any suggestions are welcome. :)

Did you try changing cables? Sounds like a detection problem.

I did, tried even other monitors.. all of them do the same thing - standby mode.

The name of the monitor is recognised in nvidia control panel.

Are you running clone or extended?

Tried all of them, single, clone, extended horizontal, vertical and dual.

The system acts like it's working, but the display is still in stadby mode.

To troubleshoot if whether it is a software or hardware problem and so on, detach first the monitor and see if it displays any messages, if it does then it isn't the monitor. It is your display adapter or graphics card.
