Does anyone know if the 65nm core 2 duo mobile processors are compatible with the pm45 mobile chipset? I would think so because 65nm works on p45 desktop. I checked the intel site and I can't seem to find the answer. It just says that it supports 667/800/1066 fsb and has support for 45nm processors.

If you want to know why, I am going to be buying an msi barebone from OC and I want to make this a budget gaming laptop. I am looking at getting a T5750 or T7300 processor and want to make sure they are compatible before purchasing.

Thanks for the helps guys. :D

    Yes it's compatible. :)

Just make sure you get the correct socket!

It wouldn't answer if i didn't know the answer, easy as that. Meaning: I never guess what the answers are. Like in if i don't know the answer i won't even try to help.

It's ofcourse backwards compatible with 65nm core 2 duos, it doesn't even exist an intel chipset that only supports 45nm core2duos and will not do as nehalem is taking over.

I already answered that in my first post. "Just make sure it has the correct socket".

    The PM45 requires a Socket P processor. The first-generation Core 2 Duo used Socket M (along with the Core Duo). The first-gen C2Ds were T5200, T5500, T5600, T7200, T7400 and T7600. I think that's all of them...

Any Core 2 Duos after that will work (they're all Socket P).

Exactly, that is what i mean with "get the correct socket" :) If there are 65nm socket P CPU's is another question but it supports 65nm c2ds if it where to be socket P :D
