I know that the specific needed processor depends on the tasks that are going to be performed. So wich is better the dou-core or 64-bit for aplications such as heavy design programs like AutoCad?

The way I understand it unless you use Windows xp x64 edition (64bit edition) it won't matter if you have a 64bit processor or not. 64 bit would be great but then again so is dual core not sure which is better though for what you're asking.

Well, if you're program is multithreaded, a dual core processor will do wonders. If it is written for 64 bit, than a 64 bit proocessor will be awesome. If neither is applicable, then a single core 32 bit processor will do fine (although 64 bit is usually cheaper).

There are also more companies these days releasing 64-Bit versions of their software, thus that makes 64-Bit a bit more future-proof in my opinion. It's all what you do with it, rather than what it is.

For some reason multithreaded programs slipped my mind, listen to MGS2392 ^^;
