    thats what i am, i'm definately getting intel core duo for my notebook but with so these options, t2300, t2400, t2500 - whats the difference? i've been told to get t2300 at least and as far as im concerned, the faster the better, how does the performance vary in the core duo family? :confused:

    Were you obsessed with the pentium 4's a few years back? :p

    Anyway, I'm using a T2300 and it works GREAT on single threaded apps. Can't say the same about the faster cores, but if I'm doing anything other than gaming (which is kinda hard on this since it's an intel GMA 950), the cpu is more than adequate.

    I've also used other laptops by friends with faster processors... I really can't tell a difference from my 1.66 gHz until I hit 2.0 gHz

    the bigger the number. the higher the clock. 2500 I think is 2GHz where the 2600 is 2.16. The 2400 is 1.83 I believe.

    Clock speed isn't everything. Usually, when you're doing graphically intensive things, the GPU is the chokepoint, not the CPU

    Fill out some of the FAQ questions and some of those crazy people with thousands of posts can help you out better.

    they are all core duo
    T2300 = 1.66Ghz
    T2400 = 1.83Ghz
    T2500 = 2.00Ghz
    T2600 = 2.16Ghz
    T2700 = 2.33Ghz

    if you are a speed freak what till the Core 2 Duo's which will be much faster yet

    IF your a speed freak, then buy T2500 now. After Core 2 Duo comes out, Get the T7600. That should be the best, you save money so you can buy the T7600!

    All of the Core Duos are blazing fast . . the T2400 or T2500 (depends where you buy the laptop from) will offer the best price/performance. The T2600 and T2700 are top-shelf CPUs with a price tag to match, and are usually not worth it.
