I'm interested what are the accepted processor temparatures?

I've got a intel t5550 c2duo at 1.83, and when idle, its at about 60C... but it jumps up to 85C when I use it for rendering.

    is this "abusing" the notebook?
and where can I get a good list of the average temperatures?

i think ~50c should be the idle temp.

~85c is ok when using it to fullest.

I've just stuck a vacuum cleaner in the fan exhaust...
drooped the max temp to 64C :D

... the dust must have been killing him.

My dell E1505 peaks at 131F (55C). I run my T7400 at 100% load for days on end, and it never breaks 131F.
When My E1505 is on my homemade laptop cooler, it runs about 5F hotter than room temp, which is 77F (at 100% load) People underestimate what a good fan is. There is nothing like a few good high performance EBM Papst's :D

My 125 watt AMD Opteron 185 maxed out at 116F in my D900K at 100% load.

The peak cpu temperature for most laptops should be less than 80C.
Going above 80C is dangerous for cpu's and gpu's

Might want to give the Undervolting Guide a try; I have the same processor and I undervolted it, it idles at around 45 C and, under load, will go up to 55-57 C.

My studio runs a 41 C when i listen to music and browse the web. And the fan is almost never on. I got a good laptop. But the max my cpu is 65 C. Intel can work up 95 C. I think its 95.
