Okay so heres what i want to do:

I made a laptop cooler. It has a switch on the back that either turns it on or off, so i can only have it always on or always off.

What i want to do is incorporate the laptop. I want to make a "switch" using a usb.

I want to run a program on the laptop which will monitor the laptop temperature, and when it hits a certain point (example 80c), the program will engage the usb, which is hard wired into the circuit ( from the laptop cooler fans to the 12v dc plug in the wall)

It sounds complicated, but I already have a basic switch on the back. When I turn it off, it disconnects the circuit, when its on, it completes the circuit which in turn spins the fans.

I'm just wondering if there is a program that can control usb ports via temperature.

    any ideas would be great

    thanks

You'll have to write the program. Its possible but the problem is in writing the program.. i don't know what software to use and the switch might cause problems on being turned on and off.. meaning u might need a "digital switch" to ur cooler... For stuff like this , K-Tron's the guy. PM him and get him on this thread.
