i recently bought a toshiba p205-s6337 from a guy off craigslist, i see on amazon specs list for this notebook thatthe harddrive speed is 4200rpm however i dowloaded everest ultimate to look at the specs and configurations of the notebook first hand and it says that the rotation speed is 5400rpm.
my question is, is the speed 4200 or 5400? the everest ultimate says 5400 what one is it?

go to my computer, right click the hard drive and go to the hardware tab. It will tell you the maker and model of your harddrive. Type the model number into google and it will tell you if its 4200 or 5400 rpm.
If not, locate the harddrive and remove it. It will state the rotation speed on the top of the drive.

The drive may have been replaced at some point. The 5400 rpm drive is faster so if you thought you were buying the computer with a 4200 rpm drive, you got a bit of a bonus. I wouldn't worry about it.

thats what the everest says, does that seem like a pretty decent hard drisk? -
Yeah it seems like a good hard drive. You can always test the sustained data transfer rated with hdtune. Then you can compare your drives speed with other 5400rpm and 7200rpm mobile drives.
