Is there anyway to switch the battery on a laptop without having to completely shutdown the laptop? Like in order to charge the batteries, what is the correct way to do it??

Nope, unless you hibernate or use the A/C adapter.

I've always just hibernated it to swap batteries while on the go. I don't think there is any other way without hibernating or just shutting it off.

if you hibernate it (just shut the screen), you can take out the battery and it will still be fine??

If I need to take my battery out, or put it in, I just do it, even if the computers on(of course with the ac plugged in). Nothing happens :D

Would that affect the battery life? It sounds sketchy...

    I dunno would it?
    I would like to know.

Wouldn't it be the same same as unplugging the AC when it's still charging?

If you've got multiple batteries in your laptop or an external battery you can change one while you leave the other one in. Althoughh I think that defeats the point of what you're trying to do...
