Hello to all I was wondering if older laptops had pci slots that will take pci wireless cards?

ex. I have an hp zt1230 1100 mhz cpu. I was wondering if it would take a wireless pci card.

also I know people who owns some older dell laptops(500-700mhz) and was wondering if these would take also, Iam about to look on dells support site(I know dell has there manuals online)

    thanks in advance

    happy newyear to everyone!

Most new laptops have these slots, older laptops usually didn't have them. Your laptop model does not appear to show that slot on either the maintenance guide on hp.com, or a technical spec sheet of slots/ports. Your best bet for finding out on different laptops is to search the laptop makers website for the hardware manual, and seeing if it shows how to replace a card, or install one.

Just to clarify ... we are talking about mini-PCI slots, not normal ones.

Correct. Another thing to mention is mini-PCI is the older technology in laptops, with mini-PCIe being the replacement.

but my question is will I be able to install a wireless card in that slot? I guess when I get my hands on one I would have my answer.

also mini-pcie, I know in desktops is used(pci E) for video cards, so in laptops they are used for everything( ex. video cards, wireless etc. )? and my guess is that a mini-pci card will not fit in a mini-pcie slot huh?
