Okay, say that I have a MSI GX630.(link below) Could I change the processor for a faster one? The laptop has a switch that you flip that automatically overclocks the processor by 15% while gaming on the plug. Will that affect what processors I can upgrade it to? And what are some good processors that I could exchange it for? I plan to be gaming quite a bit and I think that I will need a better processor for gaming.

I'd look at any notebook with an Intel CPU right from the start instead togheter with the same type of GPU you're looking at now.

There should be options to upgrade the CPU but AMD is kinda far behind intel so i don't see the reason to get a notebook with an AMD-specced CPU if it's not really really cheap.

It was the best budget gaming laptop I could find that I really liked. I love the whole overclocking thing and the way it looks. Feel free to reccomend any better laptop though. Most of the other budget gaming laptops dont have a 9600GT with a good processor.

Have you seen the MSI GX620-001US? It's only $100 more ($949) and includes everything from the GX630-028US as well as a larger 320GB hard drive. The real difference is the processor- the 2.26GHz Intel P8400 instead of the 2.0GHz AMD Athlon X2 QL-62...HUGE DIFFERENCE! I just looked at some test figures over at Cnet.com and the P8400 is literally twice as fast as the 1.9GHz QL-60 in most of their tests. The 2.0GHz QL-62 is only 5% faster than the QL-60.

    Here's the link for the GX620-001US- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152086

The only exterior differences appear to be- the GX630 is Black with Red Trim, the GX620 is Black with Silver Trim.

Those $100 bucks should be no problem as you already thought of upgrading the CPU which would cost about that price. So that's the perfect notebook for you i'd say, the one that allfiredup is mentioning :)

They do look very similar. But I believe MSI and ASUS are both ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers), so they actually manufacture their own models. Maybe they share the design, though?
