1680x1050 15,4 wsxga+ (9800gs,2.4 c2d)
vs
1440x900 17wxga+ (hd4650, 2.6 c2d)
Hi, Im thinking of buyin the first one(with 9800gs) but the resolution size bothers me a little when im going to play games (eg stalker CS).
Which one is faster when played at maximum resolution of its monitor? I know the 9800gs is a better card but playing at that resolution wil also drop the fs more i think.
If i play the laptop with its 9800gs on lower resolution(eg.1440x900) then 1680x1050 will the graphics look uglier when compared to the other laptop on same resolution size?

For gaming I would take the 1440x900.
cheers ... -
...yes but isnt the 4650 slower then the 9800m gs?

moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
I don't think the first one will look ugly @ 1440x900.
If you can get your hand on the notebook before you buy it to check... -
9800GS owns 4650 so get the notebook with that... it will also be able to max out the game at 1680x1050 unlike the the notebook with 4650 which will find it hard to max out the game at 1440x900.

But if i decide to lower the display with of notebook with 9800gs to 1280x800 will it look uglier?
-
Probably not as bad as if you had to lower 1440x900 to 1280x800 (or lower). Just get the one with the 9800GS.
-
Seconded. A GTS runs quite well @ 1680x1050 and imagine there wouldn't be too much of a change with a GS.
-
As low as you keep the same aspect ratio, dropping down to lower resolutions shouldn't make the game seem really weird or awkward looking
question about resolution size and graphics quallity
