    hey.

I just pre-ordered a SONY SR series laptop. however, i understand this problem to be common among all sony laptops. I am going off to college so I am able to get windows vista ultimate at a discount. My SR laptop is being shipped with Windows Home Premium.

My question is when i install windows vista ultimate over home premium, how do I get sony drivers for my laptop that will be compatible with ultimate? On the sony support site, it doesn't give me an option of selecting different Windows OS when i choose a laptop.

Also, if I install windows vista ultimate over home premium, how will i be able to get back the sony software that came with the laptop (e.g. not the trial bloatware, but the software that may be needed for media keys and such)?

    thanks!

I don't see many driver issues between the two. If there are you should able to get drivers on line.

You should be able to look at the disk that came with and install the desired software individually from an .exe file.

I my self have not ever seen drivers separated more than say 98, XP, Vista. Never versions per se.
