I'm not really interested in getting a built in webcam. they tend to be really low quality, so I'd probably buy a higher qauality unit to clip onto my LCD. with that in mind, if I get the model without the expansion kit, does it still have the spot where the webcam would go, or would I have a cleaner bezel with nothing?

it would be really annoying knowing the bezel was dirtied with a feature I never bought, but still had it there, only empty.

well, someone replied to a similar thread I made on NCIX.com and they said that if you buy the model without the webcam, the bezel is clean. this pleases me :)

The built in webcams (at least in my model) really aren't that bad... they're webcam quality. You aren't looking for camera quality, are you?

No I you dont get the camera you will have a clean bezel without the mounting spot for the camera. Now as far as the 1210's camera's quality goes, outside in daylight it is great. Pictures are very clear and crisp, very nice looking. The video also looks great in daylight. Now in low light it has problems. It does get a bit grainy, but if your in a well lit room it will look really good. You should check out some of the pictures from the review from when it first came out on this site. The pictures look really good.

Now what Pitabred said, if your looking for amazing quality, a web cam isnt what your looking for. I said it looked really good, thats as far as web cams go. Yeah the pictures look good, and I would think they were even taken on a real camera, but a 5MB digital camera will still look alot better then this thing. But Microsoft just came out with an amazing new web cam. I believe it takes 2+ MP video, and 7MB+ stills if my memory serves me right. Not sure how much it costs, but if you want a web cam thats as good as it gets, thats probably what your looking for.
