i have 3.5" mobile hard disk with 250gb, if i buy a 2tb hhd, put it in will it work?
-
By "mobile hard disk," do you mean an enclosure, or an external hard drive that came pre-assembled? If it's an external that came pre-assembled, you may not be able to swap out the hard drive; many of them use proprietary connectors, or are even soldered into the connectors, making them hard or impossible to remove. If, instead, it's an enclosure that you put the 250 GB HDD into, it may be possible, depending on the firmware/hardwire of the enclosure. Some older enclosures were not designed for newer high capacity drives, and thus would not be able to recognize them.

it's an external that came pre-assembled, the brand is called AvLink if it's any help, i opened up the casing and had a look inside, i could take the hard drive off because i don't have the triangle and the star-shaped screw driver. The information on the hdd are; 250 gb PATA

... it's a PATA interface? Then it'll probably be very hard, if not impossible, to find a 2 TB HDD with a PATA interface. The largest one I can find quickly is 500 GB only...
The new "standard" HDD interface is SATA. -
if its PATA , its going to be hard to find anything at all in 2TB size ... like judicator said , 500GB is the most your going to get... if u really want a 2TB drive , your going to need to buy a new SATA external hard drive... like Western Digital My book....

yeah, i think i will have to get myself a new external hard drive.
what is the difference between my book and my passport? which one is powered only using the usb? -
my book is external 3.5 inch powered drive while passport is 2.5 inch powered by USB...personally , i'd get my book since it has e-SATA and it has big size (2TB)...the passport can only be got in 500GB size at most.
question regarding to external hard drive
