Semprons are basically celerons but a bit better.
They are good value since they are cheap but anyone with a little extra cash would far better off with a Turion or a Centrino -
Some Semprons are based n AthlonXP's, others on Athlon 64's. They carry less cache and I believe the 64 Semprons are not 64bit.
Sempron is to Athlon what Celeron is to Pentium. -

is it easy to put a new cpu in the laptop might upgrade the cpu?
-
It is not easy to upgrade though in the sense that you'll probably have to disassemble the whole laptop to reach the cpu. If you havent done such a thing before then it might be a bit tough. The service manual on HP's website should give you the steps required to replace the CPU though which might be useful.
Oh and regarding the Semprons they are decent budget CPU's. The jerkiness on websites is moet probably due to the cache, but before upgrading the cpu I would try adding more RAM and seeing if that can take care of that issue. -
I noe this may be the wrong forum, but since its AMD that ppl are talkin abt, does Athlon 64 make a good NB processor. Centrino is better rite?

So the Turion and Centrino and basically the same..
-
Pretty much... they both have slight pros and cons though. They're more or less equivalent.
As to your question about Sempron... it USED to be a great value chip, but I find them quite useless nowadays. If you're going to get a Sempron, make sure it's based off the 64-bit athlon.
You're better off buying an older Centrino model in my opinion... -
The mobile Semprons run at 25W which is quite good and most people don't need 64 bit. For office, burning discs and the web, the Sempron is more than enough. The biggest performance bottleneck on a laptop is usually the hard drive not the CPU.
r semprons good value cpus
