I am in the situation with getting 2gb or 1 gb with the dv 6000t on the hp site. i did no know that you can buy 1 x1gb ram from hp. I thought they automatically give you 2x 512 mb. Is this possible?

It depends on the company...if you have the option for a single dimm, it may be slightly more expensive upfront...but you will save later when you only have to buy 1 extra chip. Some companies don't offer 1x1GB...it should tell you what configuration you are getting on the HP site. You might be out of luck.
