    i went to newegg and check the ram price for my notebook. really weird
    1gb of ddr 2700 is about 80bucks and 2 X1gb of ddr2 5400 is about 50bucks....
    wow..... i thougt price is suppose increase as speed increases but now the lower speed need more money.. what is wrong with that??

    DDR 2 is the current standard, so DDR demand has down way down. Hence the price hike.

    The older RAM is no longer in mass production whereas the RAM makers geared up the production of DDR2 expecting that Vista would create a big demand for new computers and RAM upgrades. Unfortunately for them, and fortunately for the rest of us, the big RAM shopping expedition didn't happen, so since March prices have slumped in order to help shift excess inventory.

    I saw something recently which suggested that prices might start to ease upwards again after mid-year once supply and demand are in better balance.
