my laptop has been gettin random BSOD's. i got one while i was working on dreamweaver the other day and lost a whole load of work and i got one today whilst watching and recording TV on the laptop. yesterday dreameweaver froze but i could still move the mouse etc, today the tv started to lag i thought it was the tv signal but then it died. my temperatures are not very high and the laptop is only a few months old. i have had no problems before. could it be a piece of software which is causing it.

Is your CPU undervolted? That used to cause my random BSOD's.
-
Can you remember what the BSOD said? Like error at such and such? That should help pinpoint the problem.
-
What did the BSOD say? Those numbers are not just for fun? They sometimes say where the problem happened?
-
Could be a grpahics card problem if its the laptop in your signature...
But yes, as others said, the error message would help a lot. -
if the error comes up agin ill post it but at the moment it seems to be ok. another thing is do some people sometimes get internet explorer randomly crashing when it opens because mine seems to once in a while
-
i think it might be to do with windows media centre beacuse it has only happened when this has been open and one of the BSOD's happened when i remover my usb tv tuner. its not th graphics card as the laptop is playing games fine and it is the laptop in my sig
i havent had the bsod for a while but it said someting about a stop error and some numbers if it comes up again ill write it down
+my cpu is not undervolted -
i just got it after postin it said something about a bad_pool_caller and i seem to get it after the laptop has been on for a few hours. my temperatures are not very high and the fans are on but not going very fast so theres no heat problem

please can someone reply, could it be my video drivers
-
I used to get similar error messages, but that was because my D900K is cranky and does not like Opteron processors.
Your best bet is to download MEMTEST 86.
Run that for a few hours. If you get any memory errors the memory is the problem.
If not, than it is a software related problem. You can narrow it down by reinstalling drivers. I recommend reinstalling the chipset, harddrive and video drivers, because those are usually the only ones which cause problems like these.

thanks ill try that

im going to downgrade my video drivers as i upgraded to dox optizied 182.05 a few weks ago and this could be the problem apart from thatno drivers have changed so it would most llikely be the ram. i have a 3 year warranty, this should cover the ram right
-
ok i downgraded my video drivers from the dox optimized ones to laptop video to go 180.48 drivers. i then found i could not detect my external monitor through the vga, i then upgraded to laptop video 2go 181.20 drivers and i still cannot detect my monitor. does anyone know what has gone wrong here. i dont seem to be getting blue screens anymore. if its the drivers can someone reccomend ones which will work
