Hi again community, Im happy to be here again,
Im my recent Linux proyect Ive been trying to read the MSR register through Ubuntu console on Windows 10, so far I've installed the msr-tools sucessfully but I recently came up with this error after runing the MAKEDEV-cpuid-msr (solves no such file or directory error):
So far Ive tried to install the msr module usingCode:root@DESKTOP-5VU9EGL:~# sudo rdmsr 0x1ADH rdmsr: No CPU 0But I get the following errorCode:sudo modprobe msr
Any thoughts? Any help would be appreciated, stay healthy people!Code:root@DESKTOP-5VU9EGL:~# sudo modprobe msr modprobe: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:586 kmod_search_moddep() could not open moddep file '/lib/modules/4.4.0-18362-Microsoft/modules.dep.bin' modprobe: FATAL: Module msr not found in directory /lib/modules/4.4.0-18362-Microsoft

Why are you reading msrs through a Linux terminal on windows? There are multiple windows native msr read and write tools.

unclewebb wrote MSR tool which I find pretty easy to use:
http://www.mediafire.com/?myjkxzkzzmd
rw-everything also has an MSR edit feature, but idk how to use it.
CrystalCPUID is another tool that I've used to edit MSRs. It worked for me on an AMD system, and I figure it'd work fine on Intel systems as well. -
Thanks a lot Khen, I tried RwEverything and Unclewebbs tool so far, both of them work great. Im trying to get rid of the Power throttling but it looks that no matter how high I set the PL1, Ill still get power throttled. Gotta look further!

Are you on a Dell system? I noticed on a latitude system that the BIOS is bugged such that power limit changes are ignored with an approved AC adapter, but are accepted with an unapproved adapter or the PSU ID line is cut.
