What interface is your current harddrive?
    PATA or SATA

PATA drives have like 40 pins sticking out of one end of the drive
SATA drives have 15 connectors if I remember correctly

You can also find this data out from the model number on your current harddrive.
This model number is located on the top of your harddrive.
If you do not want to take the harddrive out of your laptop, you can download HDTUNE, and it will tell you the model of your harddrive in the pull down menu.

From there we can determine what would be an appropriate replacement drive
