I´m getting a ssd drive for my thinkpad x220, which requires a drive no thicker than 7 mm. With that said I´ve been looking around for a while trying to find one that is sata 3 - since I want the latest.
So far the only one I´ve found is the new samsung 830, which I will most likely purchase, but I´m stuck choosing between the 64 or 128 gb version and I dont know wich one to get.
What I use my computer for:
Watch/download movies/series
Power Point
Microsoft word
Excel
In other words nothing too "heavy". Mostly want quick to respond computer.
What it boils down to: would I notice the difference buying the cheaper 64 gb version with its 520/160 read/write compared to the 128 gb version 520/320?
The cost difference is almost double going for the 128gb compared to the 64 one.
Thanks in advance

No you won't. Only during file copies.

Yeah, you'll notice a difference.
Depending how full you'll keep the drive (% filled) and how much you hammer it with the downloads.
With the 128GB version costing less per GB than the 64GB model, I think you're being penny wise and pound foolish.
Especially if you're going to be using more than ~35GB on a consistent basis (on the 64GB model which will net you around 59GB formatted capacity).
Good luck. -
seeing as how you're coming off a platter drive, no matter which you choose, you're probably going to be impressed. And it's not like you'lll have both drives to compare to each other, you won''t be able to tell the difference between the two. If you can comfortably fit all your stuff on the smaller one, go for it. If money's not a problem, why not go for the bigger?

Money is of slight concern, I can affored it, but I´d rather not spend too much at this times. Either way I decided to go for the 64gb version, I tend to throw away everything I download with 1-2 days so the ssd wont fill upp too quickly.
If I end upp needing more space I can always put the normal 5400 rpm drive back. (will most likely remove it to save battery and wieight)
Thanks for the replies. -

If you're able to have both an SSD and an HDD in your system, you should setup Windows to install the Users folder to the mechanical drive.

Read my posts in the above thread from post #3 on.
Good luck.
read/write between ssd´s noticable for normal use?
