is this a sign of a failing drive or could it be some artifact from the cloning procedure i did last night?

each HDD. has a reserved sectors to replace bad ones.
you should keep monitoring reallocated sector count, if it increase continuously, then you should consider replacing the HDD. -
the wierd thing is i tried to do error checking vial properties>tools but it wouldnt dismount. -
try use Hard Disk Sentinel, I found it very informative and has many test methods. -

hd sentinel is great software. there is a trial version available > Download Hard Disk Sentinel
once sectors start getting errors get your data off it quick. i had 2 bad sectors on a western digital black drive and it caused no end of problems. -
OP thanks for bringing this up, I have the exact drive for my storage, but health status is GOOD, RSC is exactly the same with Crystal (but my power on hours are only 1920).
