Hello, I want to replace the HD of my SONY VAIO VGN-C240E for a 500GB one. Do you know if it is possible, because I heard that most VAIO only can go up to 350GB and 5400RPM because of heating concerns. Is that a simple operation??
Thanks Paulo

500GB 5400rpm should be fine, as long as it's not 7200rpm, if heat is a concern.
I can't say how easy/difficult it is to replace the drive, as I have not seen that particular model of Sony. The few that I have worked on, required me to almost have the whole laptop apart as the HDD was under the keyboard and not accessible from the bottom. -
Its possible to upgrade. Your system uses 9.5mm thick 2.5" SATA laptop drives. You can pick basically any one you like which fits the size.
I would say your best bet is to go for the Hitachi 5K320 (320gb 5400rpm) or the WD5000BEVT (500gb 5400rpm)
The 7200rpm drives may vibrate your system because your system is very thin and lightweight. I would stick with a 5400rpm drive.

I'll be in Miami next month (I'm brazilian) and is it necessary to do an advanced order or these HDs are available on regular computer stores for immediate pick up??

I doubt you will be able to pick them up at a store. You may need to order one in advanced. I do not know of any Microcenter type places in Florida.
