so ive been thinking of replacing my dvd drive with a blu ray drive. is this possible on my laptop (m-6862)? also what drive would work if it is possible? is it something i could do for under 150 dollars? and would it work even though my screen is only 1280 x 800?

Cyberlink offers a small app to check if your system can take advantage (blu-ray ready) of playing blu-ray materials. Try that first before committing to invest $$

Blu ray is HD witch has a resolution of 1920x1080, so if your screen cant even display that resolution it may not be worth it (you could still watch the movies, but it wouldnt show its true potential) However, you could use an external display at that resolution.

Just needs a faceplate swap to make it look alright. Other option for optical bay is to house your 2.5" HDD as a hotswap in a SSD+HDD hybrid storage setup. See sig if that setup is of interest.Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015
