I have an alienware 51m 5550 that boots but after five minutes the screen goes blank with pink lines. I would like to replace the video card but have been unable to find one to purchase. There is a nice video on youtube which shows how to do it (simple, really) but where do I get a compatible card. I don't want to use this thing for gaming but just general use.
Anyone have suggestions/sources for cards?

I don't think thats quite the right model # you have there?
If it is the laptop I think it is, then you can get an HP fx 770m to work, or a 9600m GT ddr3.
If you want to avoid any chance of failure again however, then you can go with an ati 3650. -
That's an MXM type III. I found this on mxm-upgrade that might help.
Uniwill MXM Options
Doing a search for "m5550 MXM" also yielded a lot of results. You can find those cards on e-bay. -

I know you know what you're talking about... but others might not. -
