So I have an optical drive that went out on me, so I have two choices imo: replacing my present optical drive with a blu-ray drive or put a HDD in it. How can I be sure that my laptop would support RAID 0?

Why exactly do you want RAID0 (with 2 HDDs?)

Very few laptops will support RAID 0 (except maybe software RAID) through an optical bay drive. Basically, unless your computer came with the option for 2 HDDs originally (not including said optical drive), then the chances of having appropriate RAID controller drivers hovers around 0.
