How is your HD not detected? How is it connected to ur computer?

You say you have stuff on there, so that means at one time it worked fine. If so, can you give us full details as to how and when it stopped working.

I was just browsing online with firefox and then it just froze for no reason so I held the power button for 5 seconds and when I turned it on it booted very very slowly. tried to backup my stuff, but it froze again. I turned it off and now it won't boot. I tried everything just won't boot.

They'll ask you to run a diagnostic before you return it, so go to their website and grab that. The easiest way is to get the CD version, and you just burn the ISO with Nero or whatever, as an image.

All my Seagate RMAs have gone extremely smoothly.

how did you package the hard drive? I can't do the diagnostic because the HD cannot be detected.

I'm thinking they'll send you packaging. I can't remember for sure, I might be mixing them up with another manufacturer, or a retailer like Lenovo. But I'm pretty sure they do, or they at least give you guidelines.
