ok... i have the t7200. but my brother liked it so much he wants one too. the thing is. he wants the lower end model. which would either be the core2duo
t5500 or the t2400?
ive read ALOT of reviews comparing the two processors but they all seem to be unbalanced. soem say the t5500 outpreforms the coreduo. others sayt he 1.83ghz t2400 is better?!?!?! im kind of lost! well, not REALLY lost..jsut..most of the reviews seem to compare the higher end t2700 and the t7200!!! whcih have a higher cache!! the lower end models have only 2mb...whcih makes both the core2duo and the coreduo seem quite similar...
any ideas?
here are the links!
core2duo: t5500

and no...he really cant strech his budget any further!! so now ive realised where i get stuck...ive focused of high performance so much i completely ignored lower end models and now im stuck! and thanks in advance guys...

i moved this post to the hardware forums, and hope you have better luck there.

For 64 bit OSs, the T5500 would be better, but for regular 32 bit, the T2400 would be best.
-
The t5500 is more future proof. I suggest it. -
The T2400 will be faster, but only slightly so. The Core 2 Duo has 64bit though, which may be important. I'd basically choose on the features, and possibly if you can look at the actual machines beforehand, figure out which one he likes better. They're nearly identical machines in performance.

My bad, I thought they were both 1.8~ghz.

same difference?
