I use my laptop as a desktop replacement 95% of the time, but recently I noticed that I have two long arc scratches on it. I feel stupid, but I think its when I lightly removed some dust from it with a wool jacket on. I can't think of any other way it could have happened because its closed most the time.
Any tips on how to buff them out?

Live with it. Most of the scratch removal procedures will make your LCD worse (much worse!).
The safest way is to replace your LCD, which is a crazy idea due to its cost...

Vaseline. If applied carefully it fills the crack and matches the refraction of the gloss coating better than air. You have to clean it off everything but the scratch itself and only use a very small amount.

Have you tried cleaning it off with a soft towel and water? -
thanks for the feedback, I'll give the vaseline a try.
I'm certain they are scratches, I used some eyeglass cleaner on them with a soft lint free cloth and they didn't go away.
Its possible they were there the whole time and I didn't notice how rarely I leave the screen open, but I started some video editing and was using it as the view monitor.
It is like a diffraction, its like when you get a drop of water and the pixels shift a little, but its across the screen in one spot in a thin line and the other one just looks like a scratch.
Is re-polarization possible? I don't know how deep the scratches are. When I bought it from China I thought it was matte, but they had their description wrong. I kinda wanted to do that anyways someday, I think one place will do it for around $100.
