hi, i have a dell 6400, and notice that when on battery power the screen is very dark ,to the point of its not very easy on the eye, i;m sure this is to conserve battery power,

is there a way to increase the brightness when on battery power, if you dont mind shortening the life of the battery.

there is usually a FN function to turn the brightness up. for exapmle, on my lappy, FN+up arrow brightens, and on my sister's its FN+right arrow.

Mine is FN(Bottom, second from left) and F7, but yours could be any of the F keys. I always have it on the lowest screen setting, I can read everything perfectly.

Another way to increase the brightness is in the BIOS, if you FN keys don't work.
